PS5
groaning
weeping
crying
watching
you too hate evil
and evil doers
as prone am I to
those infections
prostrate myself in
awe and fear
speaking not as
rotten mouths do
but rejoicing in
your refuge
8/21/25
(Notes from 9/5/1998) “Prayer for Guidance in a Wicked World”
In America today from the highest office to the masses, wickedness abounds. Not only does the leader of our country sin in the most horrific way, but the polls show overwhelming support for him.
How hard is it to walk the straight and narrow in this environment. Those of us that stand for morality, truth and consequences for sin are seen as harsh, insensitive, and uncaring.
God still hates sin. The buzz phrase today is “hate the sin, love the sinner.” While this is true, I think too often it is used to support an attitude of tolerance today. Psalm 5:4-6 only shows the hate of sin side.
We Christians today need to pray this Psalm, that God will “make His way straight before His face.” That God will “Compass us with favor like a shield.”
(27 years later I think much of the American church has embraced worldly powers and means to get their way, and lost sight of what being God’s people in a hostile world looks like.)
