where do we turn
when threats come from all sides?
the powers that be
the rulers of our time?
they try to tell us
they speak for the angels
they are the solution
they are on God’s side
and yet
their bowstrings are taught
aimed at our hearts and minds
YHWH is on HIs throne
God rules the universe
He is trusted and worthy
we shall see His face
don’t turn to the wreck
in sands stretched far away
rest on Christ’s foundation
on His righteousness stay

“11:5 “If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do?”
Today a report was presented to congress detailing an affair our president had, and claiming that he illegally has tried to cover it. That he has tried to cover it up for 7 months is true, whether he did so illegally remains to be seen. I really don’t care because Mr. Clinton has already done wrong in my book.
This morning, he ‘apologized’ again, claiming he had repented. Last week he said what he has done was indefensible. This afternoon he is defending himself by saying that ‘legally’ he did not commit adultery.
Will the people of our country care? God, what do you think of us? I, for one, am sorry and ashamed.”

Well, it turns out that all the people on the opposite side of the political aisle from Clinton did not really care about what he did. Only when it was politically expedient, were they alarmed. Since then, their own man has done much the same—even worse. It looks like the men in power then and today were cut from the same cloth. (Come to think of it, back then the current republican president was friends with the Clintons, and a democrat. So, it really is all the same coin just different faces.)
If we try to convince ourselves that our country is a Christian nation, we will run into these sorts of indefensible contradictions. Instead, it is best to see the government for what it is. A human institution, not of the side of God, nor even of the little people. The Kingdom of God is not dependant on the powers, or governments, of man.
