there is coming a day when
all will be right and good
and none will be there who deserve it
but oppressed and poor and
guilty who’ve understood
will see justice despite underserving
be gracious to me, God
let not evil well pursue
but fall in the snare they are crafting

(Notes from 9/9/1998) “Praise for God’s Justice”
So far, the Psalms have struck me as somewhat bloodthirsty. Of course, David was a warrior, so his world was different from mine. His enemies would kill him.
Today, living after Christ, I see God’s love more than other qualities. But I can’t forget that there are enemies. Although the gospel is for all, not all accept it, and some reject it. This is not a world of those who have heard and those poor innocents who haven’t. Some who have heard have rejected, and many who have not heard have alos rejected God. God is a just God, and that should be scary to a lot of people. Thank God for His mercy and grace.
