PS8
When I see the latest images of
deep and outer space,
galaxies beyond number full of
stars too vast to count…
Who are we for you to notice us?
You know us all by name.
Every person born with purpose in Your
plan, a special place.
Creation proclaims your character from
gas giants to worms,
the jewel beetle to the Beehive Cluster,
chambered nautilus,
to newborn baby…
How awesome you are in the universe!

(Notes from 9/8/1998) “A Psalm of Man & YHWH’s Glory”
Two things about this Psalm. One I liked and one I just discovered in this reading. First, the lesser:
Man in light of God’s creation and AS God’s creation. Mankind holds a special place in God’s creation. The ASV correctly translates this as “slightly below God.” This hold’s true to Genesis. We have a place of responsibility in creation. This is surprising to the psalmist.
Second, and the more important idea of this psalm. Creation displays God’s excellence, his glory. The moon and stars and heavenlies, as well as sea creatures, land creatures, air creatures, and man.
Verse 2 reads “established strength” not “praise” as in other translations. God shows his glory in the little weak things as well, such as babies and kids. (See 1 Cor 1:27)
Take some time to see God’s glory in all He has made.
