(Notes from 9/16/1998) “Prayer”

God, You are my shelter. I do take refuge in You. In the position I am in, remind me that your people are my shelter as well. Help me to find peace and refuge among those I serve.

Thank You for all the blessings in my life. My wife and the great woman and mother that she is. Help me to be the spiritual leader I need to be.

Thank You for my son, J. M.. He is such a special, easy going baby. Help me to lead him in your way.

Thank you for my ministry, Lord, and the difference I am making in peoples’ lives. Help me to not be discouraged, Lord.

Provide for us, God.

Update:

Looking back nearly 30 years, I see how this prayer worked out. I was starting out adulthood. Married, a new father, and a young leader with a lot to learn. God has been faithful, even when I have fallen short. I can see all the ways I have made mistakes in my roles, yet God has come through and helped me to grow and not destroy things along the way. And this prayer continues. I still need help being a husband, father, and minister.
