Listen! Promises of Salvation (51:1-11)
Before Isaiah picks up with the next Servant Song, he gives us three calls to listen and three cries to wake up. The calls relate to the previous appeal. Will we trust God and His light rather than our own efforts and feeble torches? Three calls saying, “trust the salvation coming from YHWH.”
Listen, those who pursue righteousness. Look to Abraham and Sarah. Though they were just two people, and barren at that, God made them into a nation. That God can save!
Pay attention, God’s people, the revelation of God’s law was a light to all the nations of Earth. That God will bring salvation and hope to the ends of the Earth. That Earth will cease to be, but God’s salvation is forever. Trust Him, not the powers of Earth!
Listen, you who know righteousness, do not fear man or what people can do to you. They will die and be consumed, but God’s ways and salvation will last forever and be far all generations.
Over and over again, we get this consistent message from Isaiah. Trust God and no other idol that promises you deliverance or fulfillment!
