Ostentatious

the peacock strutted
he just wanted to impress
all style no substance
beyond reason or usefulness
is it pride or insecurity
all that pretentious chatter
vain and conspicuous
or does that even matter?
it would be better
to contribute, improve
perhaps go unnoticed
but be missed when removed
